Introduction to Debating (all ages)
In Lesson 2, we focused on style and how this makes our speeches more persuasive in debating. We practiced lots of different stylistic techniques including: varying our tone, varying our emotion, hand gestures, humour, questioning, rule of three.
This week, we would love to hear who your favourite speakers are! This could be someone you have heard speak on the TV, a character in a film or someone you know personally. A few of our favourite stylish speakers are Greta Thunberg, Malala Yousafzai and Dumbledore!
Print out the ‘Stylish Speaker’ template below and fill it in with your favourite speaker’s top 5 stylist techniques and a picture! If you don’t have access to a printer, you can create your own version of the sheet and draw a picture of your favourite speaker.
Challenge: What are your favourite stylistic techniques to use? Create your own toolkit using the template below and have it by your side in all your Debate Mate sessions to help you become the best speaker you can!
